NOFOTA stands for Netherlands Oils, Fats and Oilseeds Trade Association, being the Dutch umbrella-organisation of companies concerned with the production, consumption and trade of vegetable and animal oils and fats, oilseeds and their derivatives.
Refined and further processed oils and fats find their way as a source of energy as well as a seasoning and texture provider to the margarine, sauces, bakery, cake, chocolate and infant food industries. Crude and refined oils and fats are also a raw material for the biodiesel industry.

The decarbonisation options and parameters are explicitly not verified by the companies. In this report, four vegetable oil and fat companies in the Netherlands are studied: ADM, Bunge, Cargill and Sime Darby Unimills. These four companies, together, have 7 production sites that emit more than 10 kilotonnes (kt) CO2 per year.
