Mozambique's government has approved the construction of an oil refinery in an $8 billion deal designed to reduce the energy-hungry southern African nation's dependency on imported fuels.
He added that construction of the refinery, which would have a capacity to process 350,000 barrels of oil per day, would begin in the summer of 2013. In addition to the refinery, Oilmoz is looking into building a natural gas-fired power plant, fuel storage tanks and a factory to produce oil derivatives, as well as a sea terminal for oil tankers.
