Prediction of fatty acid composition of sunflower seeds by
Sunflower oil contains approximately 15% saturated, 85% unsaturated fatty acid and consisting of 14–43% oleic and 44–75% linoleic acids in its unsaturated fatty acid content. Standard type sunflower oil is one of the most important vegetable oil in terms of oil composition and among the most important oils in human nutrition.
The study assessed the nutritional composition of sunflower seeds, cold-pressed oil and the remaining press-cakes with the aim of its valorization as a food ingredient. Sunflower oil contains principally oleic (19.81%) and linoleic (64.35%) acids, which cannot be synthetized by humans and need to be assimilated through a diet.
Quality Characteristics of High-Oleic Sunflower Oil Extracted
This work was conducted to study the oil content and some quality criteria of oil extracted from seven different sunflower hybrids growing under local environmental condition during seasonal 2012–2013. Three high-oleic hybrids (2031, 2033 and Olivko), two mid-oleic hybrids (A12 and A15) and two traditional hybrids (120 and 53) were studied to determine the oil content, some physicochemical
The sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) seed and sprout is a ubiquitous crop with abundant nutrients and biological activities. This review summarizes the nutritional and medical importance currently recognized but under-researched concerning both seed and sprout highlighting the potential benefits of their phytochemical constituents including phenolic acids, flavonoids and tocopherols.
Effect of refining on quality and composition of sunflower oil
Quality of sunflower oil. The physico-chemical parameters of crude sunflower oil, refined oil obtained from the experimental unit and commercial refined oil sample is given in Table 1. The oil samples were found to be completely moisture free after refining and less than the maximum limit of 0.1 %.
Sunflower oil is classified in three types; standard, mid and high-oleic acid containing types. This study was performed to determine the fatty acid composition of oils extracted from sunflowers

The highest contributions of PUFAs derived from 1 g oils were 786.8% E RDI and 626.3% E RDI in sunflower oil (SFL) and safflower oil (SAF), respectively. Thus, to cover recommended daily energy intake of PUFAs only 0.1 g of sunflower oil and 0.2 g of safflower oil, grape oil, silybum marianum oil or hemp oil is needed. These oil amounts were
